Math Help A-Z

I came across a website that may be beneficial to teachers, students or parents. Not quite understanding the current math concept that your children/students are studying? This website may help!http://http://kids.aol.com/homework-help/math-a-to-z
Completely free, no sign up necessary! The Math-A-to-Z homework help website provides a directory of math concepts that students study in elementary school.
Very easy to navigate and provides brief overviews of the concept.

Triangles

I wanted to share this video with you all! I found it on the TeacherTube website! As I have mentioned before Teachertube is a website where you can find brief educational videos. I really like Teachertube as you can find videos on just about any subject and the best part is it is completely free!

This video will be used in our math class as we begin to study triangles! I think that the students will enjoy it because it appears as if it has been created by and is narrated by a child. This video can be used to reinforce the characteristics of the various types of triangles.

Hello fellow teachers and parents!

This Friday during our math lesson we will be playing Wheel of Fortune Geometry Addition! The students will be divided into two teams. This game will allow a way for us to incorporate technology into our classroom as well as a fun review of geometry terms! Perhaps you would like to play this game with your class or play during family game night?! You will find Wheel of Fortune Geometry Addition at the following website http://xpmath.com/forums/arcade.php?do=play&gameid=62

The Polygon Song by Peter Weatherall

The song and video I am sharing was used in our classroom the first day that we studied polygons. Hopefully your children came home singing it :-) Please take the time to share this with your children it will only help them become more familiar with polygons!

Breif educational videos can serve as a way to get students engaged into the lesson you plan to teach. A great web resource for educational videos is located at www.teachertube.com

Polygons

This wordle is a fun way to study facts about polygons. Rather than having a list of information the word cloud makes studying exciting. Look into the word cloud and define what each term means!

Fellow teachers and parents I used the website www.wordle.net to create this word cloud. I would recommend this site for adults only. It as a great site to use to create word clouds rather than tradional word lists. However, it is a public website that has no restrictions on content of creations--some creations on this site are not appropriate for children.

Introduction to Polygons

Hello everyone! This week we will be studying polygons. Please take a few minutes each evening to work with your child on becoming very familiar with the names for each figure and the number of sides each figure has. I will be sharing some resources to help with our quest to conquer the concept of polygons! In the student resources section you will find polygon games. These games will provide extra practice for your students. In our classroom students are encouraged to access these online games during down time, perhaps they could access these games during down time at home. As usual do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

Best!
